Notes
Bothragoninae Lindberg 1971:188 [ref. ADD] Type-genus Bothragonus Gill in Jordan & Gilbert 1883. Head and anterior part of body diamond-shaped, posteriorly compressed from sides; large occipital pit just behind head; first dorsal and anal fins weakly developed. Row of plates between supralateral and lateral line rows present; row of plates between infralateral and ventrolateral rows present; enlarged nonspinous rostral plate present; lower side of head covered by many plates with sharp spines. Sensory occipital commissure interrupted medially. Ventral keel of urohyal absent; postpelvic spine present; two epurals. Northwestern and northeastern North Pacific. REMARKS: Kanayama 1991 [ref. 19261] included this subfamily into Anoplagoninae Gill 1861. Our studies (Sheiko 1998 [ref. ]) allow to consider more correct to retain classification of G.U. Lindberg (Lindberg 1971 [ref. ], Lindberg & Krasyukova 1987 [ref. 15964]), who regarded Bothragoninae as valid, consisting of two species in one genus.
