Albula argentea was originally described as Esox argentea by Forster in 1801. It belongs to the family Albulidae and subfamily Albulinae. It is commonly known as Longjaw bonefish but has many other common names such as Pacific bonefish in Australia, Sharpjaw bonefish in Papua New Guinea, Banane lèvre aigue in France, Macabí boquiagudo in Spain, Miya in Sri Lanka, Vauva in Sri Lanka. more common names It is found in Brackish and Salt water.
