Water Salt water
Habitat Notes Usually occurs solitary or in pairs in coral-rich areas of reef flats, lagoons, and seaward reefs to a depth of over 15 m. Feeds on octocorallian and scleractinian coral polyps. Easy to maintain in the aquarium.
Depth Range From 4 to 20 meters.
   
Distribution Red Sea, Indo-West Pacific: East Africa, Madagascar and Mascarenes east to Marshall Islands and Tonga, north to southern Japan, south to Kimberleys (Western Australia) and New South Wales (Australia.) and New Caledonia.
