It is found in Brackish and Salt water and its distribution is Red Sea, Indo-West Pacific: East Africa, Seychelles, Madagascar and western Mascarenes east to Caroline Islands (Micronesia) and Mariana Islands, Samoa and Tonga, north to Ogasawara Islands, south to Western Australia, Queensland (Australia) at 16°30'S, and New Caledonia.
