Habitat Marine.        
Water Salt water
Habitat Notes Most abundant flying fish in of the open sea. Forms schools. Capable of leaping out of the water and gliding for long distances above the surface. Feeds mostly on crustaceans and other planktonic animals. Preyed upon by swordfish, tunas and many other larger pelagic fishes (Ref. 9987). Mainly valued for its roe (Ref. 9987).
Depth Range From 0 to 20 meters.
