It is commonly known as squirrelfish but has many other common names such as in USA (contiguous states) as squirrelfish, in Japan as Nobori-ebisu, in Bahamas as Longjaw squirrelfish, in Barbados as Squirrel fish, in Cuba as Carajuelo de ascención. more common names It is found in Salt water and its distribution is Western Atlantic from New York to Santos (Brazil), eastern Atlantic along African coast from Sao Tome Island and Gabon to central Angola, and in open ocean near San Paulo, Trinidad, Ascension Island, and St. Helena.
