Myripristis hexagona was originally described as Lutjanus hexagona by Lacepède in 1802. It belongs to the family Holocentridae and subfamily Myripristinae. It is commonly known as Blacktip soldierfish but has many other common names such as Doubletooth soldierfish in Australia, Maru-matsukasa in Japan, Baga-baga in Philippines, Dubbeltand-soldaat in South Africa, Soldado labiado in Mozambique. more common names It is found in Salt water.
