Perca adscensionis was originally described as Perca adscensionis by Osbeck in 1765. It belongs to the family Percidae and subfamily Percinae. It is found in Salt water and its distribution is Western Atlantic from New York to Santos (Brazil), eastern Atlantic along African coast from Sao Tome Island and Gabon to central Angola, and in open ocean near San Paulo, Trinidad, Ascension Island, and St. Helena.
