Habitat reef-associated        
Water Salt water
Habitat Notes Inhabits clear lagoon and seaward reefs. Found under ledges during the day (Ref. 9710). Spawning may occur by December or soon after. Sound production has been studied in this species.
Depth Range From 3 to 50 meters.
   
Distribution Central Pacific: Johnston Atoll and Hawaiian Islands: waif from Galápagos Islands (Eastern Pacific).
