Habitat demersal        
Water Salt water
Habitat Notes Inhabits sandy bottoms. Feeds mainly on worms, crustaceans, and small molluscs; also feeds on fishes such as speckled sanddabs, herring, and anchovies (Ref. 6885). Eggs are pelagic (Ref. 6885).
Depth Range From 1 to 325 meters.
