Pseudotolithus elongatus was originally described as Sciaena elongatus by Bowdich in 1825. It belongs to the family Sciaenidae. It is commonly known as Bobo croaker but has many other common names such as in USA (contiguous states) as Corb, in France as Otolithe bobo, in Ghana as Nkan, in Guinea as Boboè, in Guinea-Bissau as Djoto. more common names It is found in Fresh, Brackish and Salt water and its distribution is Eastern Atlantic: west African coast from Senegal to Angola.
