Pseudotolithus epipercus was originally described as Rhinoscion epipercus by Bleeker in 1863. It belongs to the family Sciaenidae. It is commonly known as Guinea croaker but has many other common names such as in South Africa as Guinea Croaker, in France as Otolithe giuneèn, in Ghana as Nkan, in Guinea as Boboè foré, in Guinea-Bissau as Corvina-da-Guine. more common names It is found in Fresh, Brackish and Salt water and its distribution is Eastern Atlantic: west African coast from Guinea to southern Angola, possibly northward.
