Scolopsis bilineata was originally described as Anthias bilineata by Bloch in 1793. It belongs to the family Nemipteridae. It is commonly known as Two-lined monocle bream but has many other common names such as in Australia as Bridled monocle bream, in Japan as Futasuji-tamagashira, in Indonesia as Sidemo karang, in Indonesia as Ija puti, in Papua New Guinea as Two-line monocle-bream, in Papua New Guinea as Wonano. more common names It is found in Salt water and its distribution is Indo-West Pacific: Maldives, Laccadives and Sri Lanka east to Caroline Island, Fiji and Tonga, north to southern Japan, south to Western Australia, Queensland (Australia), Lord Howe Island and New Caledonia.
