Sebastes viviparus was originally described as Sebastes viviparus by Krøyer in 1845. It belongs to the family Scorpaenidae and subfamily Sebastinae. It is commonly known as Norway redfish but has many other common names such as in Australia as Atlantic ocean perch, in USA (contiguous states) as Redfish, in Denmark as Lille Rødfisk, in Finland as Pikkupunasimppu, in France as Petit sébaste. more common names It is found in Salt water and its distribution is Greenland; western Baltic Sea, northern North Sea, eastern North Atlantic.

Water Salt water
Habitat Notes Inhabits rocky bottoms, close to the shore, between 10 and 150 m, but also recorded at 760 m. Feeds on various small crustaceans and young fishes.
Depth Range From 10 to 760 meters.
   
Distribution Greenland; western Baltic Sea, northern North Sea, eastern North Atlantic.
