Siganus virgatus was originally described as Amphacanthus virgatus by Valenciennes in 1835. It belongs to the family Siganidae. It is commonly known as Barhead spinefoot but has many other common names such as Doublebar rabbitfish in Australia, Barhead spinefoot in USA (contiguous states), Hime-aigo in Japan, Danggit in Philippines, Sigan àdeux bandes in France. more common names It is found in Brackish and Salt water.
