Sparisoma rubripinne was originally described as Scarus rubripinne by Valenciennes in 1840. It belongs to the family Scaridae and subfamily Sparisomatinae. It is commonly known as Redfin parrotfish but has many other common names such as yellowtail parrotfish in USA (contiguous states), Yellowtail parrotfish in Bahamas, Bedja in Cape Verde, Loro aletirojo in Cuba, Perroquet basto in France. more common names It is found in Salt water.
