Trichopsis vittata was originally described as Osphromenus vittata by Cuvier in 1831. It belongs to the family Osphronemidae and subfamily Macropodusinae. It is commonly known as Talking gourami but has many other common names such as in USA (contiguous states) as croaking gourami, in Cambodia as Trey kroem kdah, in Lao, Pop. Dem. Rep. as Pa maht, in Malaysia as Karim, in Poland as Skrzeczyk pregowany. more common names It is found in Fresh water and its distribution is Thailand, Vietnam and Indonesia.
