Habitat marine.        
Water Salt water
Habitat Notes Inhabits shallow coastal waters with rocky substrate. Found under overhanging rocks, entrances of caves and other biotopes with reduced light. In the Atlantic, it also occurs in shallow, light-exposed biotopes. Feeds on benthic invertebrates, also on harpacticoids. Males court by figure-8-swimming (Ref. 4785).
Depth Range From 0 to 40 meters.
