It is commonly known as Yellowstriped goatfish but has many other common names such as in Australia as Striped goatfish , in USA (contiguous states) as Bandedtail goatfish, in Japan as Minami-himeji, in Papua New Guinea as Yellow-banded goatfish, in Philippines as Tuyo, in Philippines as Timbungan. more common names It is found in Fresh, Brackish and Salt water and its distribution is Red Sea, Indo-West Pacific: East Africa, South Africa, Madagascar and Mascarenes east to Hawaiian Islands, Line Islands and Marquesas Islands, north to southern Japan, south to Western Australia, New Caledonia and Tonga.
